Visit to County Offices
Following our emails to local county councillors with a list of questions about their work, we were invited by Councillor Marianne Butler to visit the county offices on Wednesday, 12th November. We walked down to the building, where we were greeted by Sharon, our guide for the day. She brought us up the stairs to the second floor and into the county council chamber, where we were able to sit in the very seats the councillors use during their meetings.
Sharon explained how the council operates, who its members are, the roles they play, the staff employed, and the various services the council provides to the community. She also highlighted some of the important projects they have completed so far. The girls asked excellent questions and confidently answered the ones Sharon posed to them at the end.
After a quick snack, we made our way to the fire station for the next part of our tour of local county services.
